Kafue

Zambia is described as the new safari frontier in Africa with vast untouched wilderness areas and no place epitomises this new frontier like Kafue – a wilderness of plains and wetlands that supports vast numbers of wildlife. Fed by the Lunga, Lufupa and Kafue Rivers the park is a kaleidoscope of Africa’s habitats.

Kafue may well be one of Africa’s largest game parks but it is the landscapes and its pure untouched nature that the park is defined. As with other Zambian parks Kafue was hard hit by poaching in the latter parts of the 20th century but has since established itself as symbol of the new passion sweeping the country.

Kafue’s most spectacular feature is the Busanga Plains area in the north of the park. Here lush plains and wetlands attract vast herds of lechwe and other antelope in their thousands – and the predators that prey on them.
